Originally, Bridge Lake lay along the Fur Brigade Trail, an ancient route used by fur trading brigades linking interior trading posts to the coasts. With the Cariboo Gold Rush of the 1860s, the construction of the Cariboo Wagon Road transformed transportation methods and rendered this historic trail obsolete.

Today, South Cariboo retains the imprint of these great passages — First Nations routes, the fur trade, gold rushes and early ranching — and Bridge Lake, at the heart of the Land of Hidden Waters, remains a privileged witness to this heritage.

Situated along the Fishing Highway 24, the Bridge Lake community is easily accessible by road and well connected by regional airports. Here are the practical options for organizing your journey:

• By car: from Kamloops, allow approximately 2 hours (144 km) via Highway 5 then Highway 24. From 100 Mile House, the village is just 50 km to the east on the same road.
• By air: Kamloops, Williams Lake and Kelowna airports offer regular connections to major Canadian cities. A rental car then makes it easy to reach Bridge Lake.
• By public transport: no buses serve the community directly, but it's possible to travel by intercity bus to Kamloops or 100 Mile House, then continue by car.
